Overview
I designed this informational and scenario-based eLearning for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines in an effort to improve our Goal-setting process. This training was distributed to all employees to help them create stronger goals, which would have a positive impact on our strategic efforts as an entire organization.
Research & Planning
I consulted with a Senior HR Business Partner in the organization as my subject matter expert, or SME, for this project. They provided a number of important considerations that guided my process. Those considerations were as follows:
Previous education around this topic lacked employee engagement, making visual appeal a high priority.
It would be helpful to blend an informational approach with interactivity. This would allow for better engagement within our multi-generational organization.
With these guidelines established, I created a mind map. Here, I establish a central goal for this project, a skill needed to achieve the central goal, and how that skill could be represented in this training.
Text-Based Storyboard
Once the mind map was completed and approved, I created a text-based storyboard so that these larger ideas could be broken down into a cohesive narrative.
One of the crucial functions of this project was to blend a more traditional learning format with an immersive and user-guided layout. This was achieved, in part, through the use of scenario questions that allowed employees to immediately apply the concepts they learned and receive instant feedback.
Project Features
Once the story was reviewed by a number of the project stakeholders, I proceeded with the visual implementation of the project. Using our internal design guidelines, I created a digital prototype of the training using Articulate Storyline as my primary digital design tool. This prototype was reviewed, and I met with project stakeholders to review. Feedback was overall positive with minor adjustments requested.
